In the 19th century Victoria Street was created to link with George IV Bridge; forming an attractive terrace. Wander right, enjoying the view, then descend the stairs at the foot of Upper Bow and continue downhill to the Grassmarket.
A great place to wander around and have a coffee or fine lunch. In the Lonely Planet of Scotland there is a nice walking tour menitoned on page 92 (5th edition, April 2008) The castle that gave Edinburgh his name is not far away either.Website: http://www.visitscotland.com/guide/scotland-factfile/arts-culture/literature/edinburgh-stories/victoria-street
